Exploring metal forms
By playing around with form, a designer should be able to quickly evaluate the limits and strengths of any material. Through the process of prototyping, and "listening" to the material, rather than forcing a material into specific shapes, more complex systems/products can be derived.
Project duration: 1 Week
Key Skills:
As I was experimenting with various shop tools and forms, I made this module as I was inspired by vintage microphones. As I am attracted to geometry and modularity, I wanted to create something similar.
The form consists of two separate parts which are held together by the tension of three brass rings. Conversely, the interior is also pushed outwards by three similar rings. The individual "leaflets/petals" are interchangeable, leading to a modular shape.
